Sow and Sleep, by Faith

Group Guides | Sharing the gospel, sharing our lives (1 Thessalonians 2:8)

By way of introduction: Why is the waiting so hard?

Read Mark 4:26-34

1.      How does a new kingdom usually start? Yet, what does Jesus use to describe the Kingdom of God starting? Why do you think this is?

2.      The farmer sows and sleeps, by faith, in this first parable. What could sowing and sleeping look like in our lives as we look forward to the Kingdom of God?

3.      In the second parable, from the least of seeds a great branching plant grows – providing home and rest for birds. What has this to do with us?  (If you have time, read Ezekiel 17 for context and connection to this parable)

4.      In what ways does Jesus fulfill the real-world future of this parable?

5.      How does understanding these two parables give us encouragement and equip us as God’s people?

Pray for one another, that we would be a church that sows and sleeps, by faith in God who gives the growth.
