This is the gospel grounded service of a Deacon, this is the power behind it. A power that is missing from care for others without the gospel.

“Presbyterianism” is leadership defined, that is we are led by Elders - and a church will only ever be as healthy as her leaders.

Patriarchalism and Egalitarianism exist on the same principle of argument, they exist in the opinion space of the black and white. Where, egalitarianism argues that there are no differences in roles between men and women and all can do everything. That is a black and white argument. But here is the beauty of complementarianism - it is biblical.

Never before in the history of humanity, have we had the number of opinions on how men are to be men, and women are to be women. We live in what has been wild with opinions on this for your life, and the world is weary from it.

We live in a society swimming in self-sufficiency, and yet is sinking. And because the church can too easily imbibe culture from the world, we end up swimming in self-sufficiency too… and drowning. So, we need 1st Timothy 2:1-7 - where we need to be, and we can be, reliant in prayer.

The Lord knows that His servants grow weary. He knows Christians become discouraged. He knows churches face pressures from false teaching, compromise, temptation, and fear. And so here we have this encouragement - wage the good warfare, by holding faith in Jesus.

Christianity begins with confession. Not merely confession of individual sins, but confession of what we truly are apart from grace.

Our biblical pursuit is to have healthy doctrine and so we need to teach the law, lawfully. This is all for the love of our hearts’ affections to be for Christ himself.

When it comes to doctrine, when it comes to the truth about God, salvation, Christ, and the Christian life — we don’t do different doctrine.
