God’s Will for Our Lives, is Worship. (Romans 12:1-2)

Group Guides | Sharing the gospel, sharing our lives (1 Thessalonians 2:8)

By way of introduction: Have you ever picked up a habit from someone just by spending time with them?

Read Romans 12:1-2

1.     Sacrifice is a theme we see throughout the scriptures, from the first animals killed by God in Genesis 3:21, to the sacrificial system given to the Israelites in the desert, to the teaching of Christ. Does performing sacrificesmake us acceptable to God?

2.     How does our cross-reference reading in Hebrews 10:1-18 clarify the relationship between sacrifices and our acceptability before God?

3.     Does the way we live earn Gods favour? Read Hebrews 10:19-38 to check your answer.

4.     How would you put Romans 12:1 is your own words in light of what we have learnt so far?

5.     What warning do we receive in v2 and why do we need it?

6.     How do we grow in discernment?

7.     What is the will of God? Discuss then look up 1 Thess 4:2-7, 1 Pet 1:14-16, 1 John 2:15-17, Eph 4:21-24

8.     Personal reflection:

-        What ways are you tempted to be worldly?

-        How can you be growing more like Jesus?

-        How do we have a more open conversation about our sin?

-        How can we be spurring on another on?

Pray that we as a church will be worshiping together as living sacrifices, putting off sin and growing like Christ.
