Heavenly Citizens, Here & Now (Philippians 3:17-4:1)
By way of introduction… who are the people we are most likely to imitate?
Read Philippians 3:17-4:1
Imitation is a big part of discipleship, (see 1 Corinthians 11:1, Hebrews 13:7). The imperative here is in the phrase ‘keep your eyes on’ -who do we need be able to do this?
Compare and contrast the people of verse 19 and the people of verse 20, discuss what characterises each group and makes them so different.
From verse 18, what shapes our attitude and prayers for the lost, even for our enemies because they are enemies of the cross?
As heavenly citizens we wait for the return of Christ who will transform us. So how does having our minds set on heavenly things help us to live more meaningful earthly lives?
How can we curate a culture of healthy imitation in our church?
Pray that we as a church would stand firm in the Lord.
