How can we thank God for the Church? (1 Corinthians 1:1-9)

By way of introduction: What does it mean to be thankful?
Read 1 Corinthians 1:1-9
1. As you read through Paul’s start to this letter, identify and discuss what he is thankful for in his introduction.
2. In verse 4, what does it look like to give thanks to God “always” for the church?
3. In what ways are the Corinthian Christians recipients of God’s manifold grace?
4. When we look at Jesus, we see that he doesn’t avoid problems, moreover he shoulders our problems – and he is thankful. How does the gospel make this passage in 1 Corinthians 1:1–9 very real and applicable for us?
5. The church in Corinth had some serious problems, as we shall see in this discipleship series. How can we be serious about problems in the church, and yet be joyfully thankful for the church?
Pray that we would have a culture of Christ in us as believers, in our households and in our church. Pray that we truly would be reforming by the gospel of Jesus Christ.
