Doubts and Division Over Jesus (John 7)

28th March, 2022

Group Guides | Sharing the gospel, sharing our lives (1 Thessalonians 2:8)

Our Group Guides are just that, a guide to help us be equipped & encouraged by God’s gospel word.

By way of introduction: Why do people not like Christianity?

Read John 7

  1. What do Jesus’ family at this point in John’s Gospel understand what Jesus is about?

  2. How does Jesus teaching shape the crowd’s understanding of who Jesus is?

  3. Discuss the doubts and division over Jesus we see throughout the John 7, and talk through what conclusions are made in that day.

  4. In our day the wider church and some leaders who have sought glory for themselves (John 7:18) have hurt many people. Discuss how John 7 also helps us understand why people don’t not like Christianity.

  5. There seems to be a power play here from the Jewish rulers, they seek glory. Have a look at verses 14-18 and verses 37-39, how does Jesus show his glory?

  6. In the closing scene of John 7, what does Jesus offer people and how does that shape their discussion?

  7. How does John 7 equip and encourage us in a day when we know people won’t like Jesus and His church?

Pray for our church family and friends, that we would believe in Jesus.
