Is Christ Divided? (1 Corinthians 1:10-17)

Group Guides | Sharing the gospel, sharing our lives (1 Thessalonians 2:8)

By way of introduction: Where in society do we see people have aspirations of unity?

Read 1 Corinthians 1:10-17

  1. In this section, who is concerned about divisions here and does their concern mean we can’t allow for disagreement in the church?

  2. Why isn’t the Apostle Paul okay with the divisions being expressed here in Corinth Church?

  3. How would you describe what is going on in verse 12, to someone who might be new to divisions in the church?

  4. A temptation for leadership is to hear one’s own name being used by followers and to join in the schismatic way of relating. How does Paul respond to his name being elevated in such a way?

  5. There are a bunch of ways we can respond to division in the church that are merely human. What could they be?

  6. How does Jesus change everything about divisions in the church, from what Paul writes in this section?

Pray that we would have a culture of Christ in us as believers, in our households and in our church. Pray that we truly would be reforming by the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Pray for one another.
