We Do Not Lose Heart (2 Corinthians 4:1-6)

It's so easy to lose heart, for anyone, and somewhat surprisingly perhaps, it’s easy to lose heart for us who are Christians.

One of the big threats to the Christian life is our losing heart by discouragement.

The heart deflating discouragement we get as Christians comes at us with one disappointment after another, it's what someone has once described as – death to the Christian life by 1000 little cuts.

“What are the outward means whereby Christ communicates to us the benefits of redemption?”

The catechism’s answer is,

The outward and ordinary means whereby Christ communicates to us the benefits of redemption are his ordinances, especially the word, sacraments and prayer; all which are made effectual to the elect for salvation.
